Maria Gianniou

Maria Gianniou received her PhD in History of International Relations from the Sorbonne University in 2006, focusing on the interventions of the EC/EU in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from 1973 to 2000. She also holds a DEA (Msc) in European Studies from the Sorbonne University, and an MSc in International Relations from Southampton University. She has worked as a scientific advisor to the Office of the Secretary General for European Affairs of the Hellenic Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She is currently a post-doctoral research associate at the Athens University of Economics and Business. She is also a research fellow at the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory of the Hellenic Centre for European Studies (EKEM) and visiting research fellow at the University of the Peloponnese, Department of Political Science and International Relations.

Her work, focusing on the EU's external action in the Arab-Israeli conflict and its involvement in the wider Mediterranean area has been presented in various international conferences and published in several collective volumes and peer-reviewed journals.
