Professor Dimitris Bourantonis
Dimitris Bourantonis is Professor of International and European Studies at the Department of International and European Εconomic Studies, Athens University of Εconomics and Business. He holds a Political Science Degree and a Law Degree from the University of Athens and a Ph.D. from the University of Reading. He is the Director of the Msc Program in European Studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business.
His research and publications concern analysis of international and European institutions, diplomacy, foreign policy and international history. He is the author of three books (Chairing Multilateral Negotiations: The Case of the United Nations, London: Routledge, 2011; The History and Politics of UN Security CouncilReform, London: Routledge, 2005; The United Nations and the Quest for Nuclear Disarmament, Aldershot: Darmouth, 1993). He has also co-edited five collective volumes (The EU and the non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, London: Palgrave, 2015; the EU Presence in International Organizations, London: Routledge 2011; Multilateralism and Security Institutions in the Era of Globalization, London: Routledge, 2008; A United Nations for the Twenty-First Century, The Hague: Kluwer, 1996, The United Nations in the New World Order, Basingstoke: Macmillan and New York: St Martin Press, 1995).
He has published a large number of articles in academic journals (Government and Opposition, Review of International Studies, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of European Integration, Cold War History, Cooperation and Conflict, British Journal of Politics and International Relations, International Politics, Security Dialogue, International History Review, The Hague Journal of Diplomacy, Journal of Communist Studies and Transition Politics, Contemporary British History, International Peacekeeping, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, Contemporary Security Policy, European Foreign Affairs Review, etc.).
He has also contributed in a large number of collective volumes including the Routledge Handbook of International Organization, the Routledge Handbook on the European Union and International Institutions as well as the Handbook on Security and Governance.
